The first meeting of FIATA Air Cargo Global Program 2023, organized by the Airfreight Institute of FIATA, took place in Addis Abeba.
The session which happened from 29-30 July 2023, brought together FIATA representatives to the IATA-FIATA Consultative Council (IFCC), representing all world regions to further advance the work towards a comprehensive Global Air Cargo Programme.
Dr. Stéphane Graber, Director General of FIATA, and Ato Dawit Woubishet, Chairman of the Airfreight Institute of FIATA, gave a media briefing before the meeting. The press conference got news coverage from several print and broadcast media outlets.
On its opening, the Minister of FDRE Ministry of Transport and Logistics, H.E Dr. Alemu Sime, Managing Director of Ethiopian Airlines Cargo, Ato Abel Alemu and the President of EFFSAA, W/ro Elizabeth Getahun were present.
It is expected that Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as a strategic location in the region for airfreight operations, will provide an opportunity for FIATA to better understand the needs of the African region towards such global air cargo Programme.
