Ethiopian Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) has graduated more than 110 professionals in FIATA Diploma on Thursday 08 June 2023 with the presence of higher government officials and stakeholders of the Logistics sector.

More than 170 participants attended the graduation ceremony at the Inter-Luxury Hotel, including H.E. Alemu Sime (PhD), invited guests, FIATA Diploma trainers, Association members, and the family and friends of the graduates. A total of 113 trainees who participated in the training sessions on evening and weekends in 5 batches (8–12) received the prestigious FIATA Diploma.

The President of EFFSAA, W/ro Elizabeth Getahun opened the session by her welcoming speech and opening remarks. In her speech, in addition to presenting the association’s journey in detail, Elizabeth mentioned EFFSAA’s request for land to build a training excellence center was submitted to the Addis Ababa city government with the support of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the administration had responded favorably to the request.

Right after the remark of EFFSAA’s chairperson, guest of honor of the event H.E. Alemu Sime (PhD), Minister of FDRE Ministry of Transport and Logistics presented his congratulatory message to all graduates. In his message, the Minister acknowledged the FIATA Diploma training program that the Association is carrying out to support the sector through capacity building.

The director General of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), Dr Stéphane Graber also conveyed his congratulatory video message to graduates and EFFSAA.

A short video about the FIATA Diploma vocation program were presented to the audience, which featured commentaries from trainees, trainers, and other actors in the logistics industry.

Certificates of completion were given to all the trainees who completed the training successfully, and top three graduates of each batch received certificate of appreciation from the Minister. Graduates will receive their diplomas in the coming days. Besides, certificates of appreciation were given to partners who supported EFFSAA significantly to make this graduation ceremony colorful.

Among the programs of the day, the one that caught the attention of the audience was the program about the Misrab radio program, which marked exactly one year on that day, since it started its transmission at one of the renowned private FM radio stations, Ahadu 94.3 FM. The one year journey of Misrab was explored by the producer and host of the show, journalist Hiwot Fresibhat, in a very attractive way.

The graduation ceremony was concluded with a closing speech of Ato Siraj Abdullahi, the Deputy CEO of the Freight Forwarding sector of Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics. In his message, Ato Siraj expressed his gratitude for the opportunity that the association has provided to train employees of ESL at various times and approved that his institution will continue to work together with the association.
