Ethiopian Cross-Border Trucks Terminal Eases Truck Congestion, Increases Safety
Funded by the Federal Roads Authority, Ethiopian Cross-Border Trucks Terminal or Djibouti Terminal Compound Parking Lot launched on February 17, 2021 in the presence of Transport & Infrastructure Minister of Djibouti H.E Moussa Mohammed, Ethiopian State Minister for Transport Awol Wogris, the Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti, Berhanu Tsegaye as well as scores of high-level officials from both sides.
During his opening remark, State Minister Awol Wogris noted the launching of the terminal demonstrates Gov’t’s commitment to meet the growing need for expansion of service due to Ethiopia’s increasing volume in the import/export of goods & commodities. The Minister added the success of the terminal is a clear demonstration to the unrelenting commitments by the governments of the two sisterly countries in fast tracking the economic integration they sought to champion.
The Minister commended the government of Djibouti for supporting the project as well as allowing for further expansion of the terminal. The Chinese company dubbed Zhongmei Engineering group was the contractor overseeing the construction of the terminal.

Rehabilitation Works of Daguiru Dikil road on Ethio-Djibouti Corridor Commenced.
The 80 km road from Daguiru to Dekil on the Ethio-Djibouti Dikil-Galafi road rehabilitation work has begun.
State Ministers of Transport Kassahun Gofe and Awol Wegris, Djibouti’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Moussa Mohamed, FDRE Ambassador to Djibouti Berhanu Tsegaye, Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation CEO Yonas Ayalew, Djibouti Ports and Free Zone Chief Abubakar Omar Hadi and other senior officials were present on the commencement program.
State Minister of Transport, Kassahun Gofe, said the road rehabilitation will help the movement of Ethiopia’s import/export of goods & commodities. He also thanked the governments of Ethiopia and Djibouti for their efforts to start maintenance of the road.

Introducing the 2021 Young Logistics Programme Day
At the FIATA World Congress (FWC), an entire day is dedicated to young freight forwarders around the world. Given the dynamic and diverse nature of the industry, the Young Logistics Programme (YLP) Day provides participants from universities and logistics companies with concrete benefits they can use in their daily practice.

A.P. Moller – Maersk to launch world’s first carbon neutral liner vessel by 2023
A.P. Moller – Maersk will launch the world’s first carbon neutral liner vessel in 2023 – seven years ahead of the initial 2030 ambition. All future Maersk owned new buildings will have dual fuel technology installed, enabling either carbon neutral operations or operation on standard very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO).
“A.P. Moller – Maersk’s ambition is to lead the way in decarbonising global logistics. Our customers expect us to help them decarbonise their global supply chains, and we are embracing the challenge, working on solving the practical, technical and safety challenges inherent in the carbon neutral fuels we need in the future. Our ambition to have a carbon neutral fleet by 2050 was a moonshot when we announced in 2018. Today we see it as a challenging, yet achievable target to reach,” said Soren Skou, CEO, A.P. Moller – Maersk.
Around half of Maersk’s 200 largest customers have set or are in the process of setting ambitious science-based or zero carbon targets for their supply chains, and the figure is on the rise.
A key collaboration partner is the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, an independent, non-profit research and development center, which works across sectors, organizations, research areas and regulators to accelerate the development and implementation of new energy systems and technologies.
